London Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has a busy summer ahead in 2026, with four major events taking place between late June and late July. If you live in E20 or the surrounding area, it's worth knowing what to expect — from road closures and sound checks to island and towpath restrictions — so you can plan your journeys and daily routines accordingly.

Events Overview

This summer's events at London Stadium are:

  • Take That – The Circus Live — 25–27 June
  • Metallica M72 World Tour — 3 & 5 July
  • UKA London Athletics Meet — 18 July
  • Wingfest London — 24–26 July

Take That – The Circus Live (25–27 June)

Take That bring their Circus Live tour to London Stadium across three nights. Road closures will be in effect from Wednesday 24 June, and the island and towpath will be closed from Wednesday 24 June, reopening on Sunday 28 June.

Sound checks will begin from Monday 23 June (two days before the first concert) and will run between 09:00 and 22:00 on each day leading up to and including the event dates. Please be aware of potential noise during these hours.

Metallica M72 World Tour (3 & 5 July)

Metallica's M72 World Tour visits London Stadium for two nights. The island and towpath will be closed from Thursday 2 July, reopening on Monday 6 July.

Sound checks will begin from Tuesday 1 July (two days before the first concert) and will run between 09:00 and 22:00. If you work from home or have young children, it's worth planning around these hours.

UKA London Athletics Meet (18 July)

The UKA London Athletics Meet is a daytime athletics event taking place on Saturday 18 July. While this event typically generates less disruption than a large concert, residents should still expect increased footfall in the area, some road management measures, and busier public transport links around the stadium. Plan any journeys in or out of the area accordingly.

Wingfest London (24–26 July)

Wingfest London is a popular food festival running over the weekend of 24–26 July. As a multi-day outdoor event, residents can expect higher visitor numbers in the park and surrounding streets throughout the weekend. Road management measures may be in place, and public transport is likely to be busier than usual. We recommend allowing extra time for any travel during this period.

Road Closures

For major events, roads in the area are closed under an Anti-Terrorism Traffic Regulation Order, primarily to ensure safe pedestrian movement after each event. Closures remain in place for approximately two hours after each event ends. The following roads may be affected:

  • Carpenters Road
  • Sidings Street
  • Marshgate Lane
  • Montfichet Road
  • Pool Street
  • Westfield Avenue
  • Turing Street
  • Layard Street
  • Sweetwater Place
  • Bassett Lane
  • Monier Bus Bridge
  • Endeavour Square

If you need to travel through any of these roads on event days, we recommend checking the London Stadium website or contacting the team in advance for the latest closure times.

Sound Checks

For concert events, sound checks take place from two days before each show, running between 09:00 and 22:00. This applies to both the Take That and Metallica events. If you are sensitive to noise or work from home, it's worth being aware of these windows and planning accordingly.
