Thursday 7 May - residents across Newham vote for local councillors and the Mayor of Newham. Here's everything you need to know if you live in East Village or the Stratford Olympic Park ward.

- Votes you have: 2 votes for ward councillors, plus 1 vote for the Mayor of Newham
You need photo ID to vote in person. A passport, driving licence, Oyster photocard (60+ or Zip), Blue Badge, or national identity card all count. Check the full list at electoralcommission.org.uk.

You have 1 vote. The mayor leads the council and holds significant powers over housing, planning, and local spending. Newham is one of only five London boroughs with a directly elected mayor - the others are Hackney, Croydon, Lewisham, and Tower Hamlets.
The sitting mayor, Rokhsana Fiaz (Labour), is not standing again. Eight candidates are standing, listed alphabetically by surname.

How to vote
- Find your polling station at wheredoivote.co.uk - search by your registered address.
- Bring photo ID. No ID means no vote.
- You'll receive two ballot papers: one for the ward (up to 2 votes), one for the mayor (1 vote).
- Mark an X in the box next to your chosen candidates. Don't sign or write anything else on the paper.
- Polls close at 10pm. Results are typically announced on Friday morning.
