Belvedere Redevelopment Update
Work has begun on a six-month transformation of Belvedere Park, with the finished result set to bring significantly more green space, biodiversity and play facilities to East Village.
What's changing
The redesigned park will include a larger play area for children aged 4–10, with sensory and social play features. Around it, expect generous lawn space, shaded seating, and winding paths designed for everyday use. Over 100 plant species - trees, wildflowers, and perennials - will be planted to support pollinators and attract songbirds.
Pedestrian and cycling routes through the park will also be improved, along with new benches, upgraded lighting, and CCTV.
The playground
The existing wooden playground is being removed as part of the works. The landlord was unable to rehome it, but the materials will be reclaimed and repurposed into a nature trail with signage elsewhere in East Village. A spring nature trail is planned for Easter - worth keeping an eye out for.
Shops around the park remain open
All retailers surrounding Belvedere Park are trading as normal throughout the works: Bakehouse, Santi, The Gym Group, Fat Crab, and Eggslut are all open and accessible.
Timeline
Works are expected to take around six months. Updates will be shared as the project progresses.
