V&A East presents a landmark evening for east London and grime music: Who Invented Grime?, a listening party and live conversation brought together by The Grime Journalist, Ruff Sqwad Arts Foundation, and V&A East. The event is part of Making Sound, V&A East's youth music programme running alongside The Music is Black exhibition.
The evening marks the first public listening of the debut album Who Invented Grime?, a record that traces the genre's roots, its architects, and the communities that shaped it. After the listening, the night opens into a live conversation and Q&A featuring grime artists, producers, and guests drawn from across the genre's history.
This is a rare opportunity to hear the story of grime told by the people who lived it, in the heart of east London, the place where the music was born. Expect an atmosphere that is celebratory, candid, and deeply rooted in the culture.
