Draft a block

Paste the article's slug — the last part of its URL. The draft is written into Sanity for you to edit and approve. Nothing is published, and nothing on the article says it was drafted this way.

When it refuses, and why

Local news is made almost entirely of the things summarising gets subtly wrong — dates, amounts, deadlines and eligibility conditions. The failure is never an obvious invention, it is a dropped condition: apply by 1 August becomes apply soon, a resident acts on that, and the summary was the part they read. So it declines rather than trying.

• Under about 600 words. Most pieces here are 400–600, where the summary is longer than reading the article.
• Safety or housing. The two categories where a dropped condition costs someone something.
• Anything with a deadline or a sum of money in it — whatever it is filed under.
• An article that already has a block, unless you tick replace. A regenerated block needs approving again.
• A draft quoting a figure the article does not state. Numbers and names are copied, never rephrased, and that is checked before anything is written.

It is never used for the share card or the preview text either — those leave the product, where no correction can follow them.
